Educating for Engagement
As public participation and public engagement take root in 21st century local decision making, municipalities across the US need leaders who are prepared to be not mere expert problem solvers, but conveners of the public toward sustainable solutions. The Davenport Institute presented the following poster at the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) annual conference in 2015 to show how schools of public policy must respond to this need and how the Pepperdine School of Public Policy is preparing students in all fields equipped for leadership in what is, after all, public policy:
