Homelessness in California remains a persistent, and in some cases, growing policy problem. Recent public opinion surveys reveal that it's becoming an increasing element in how Californians perceive their quality of life and a contributing factor to leaving the state. A true cross sector challenge, with government, nonprofits, and the business community both impacted by and seeking to find solutions, the faith-based nonprofit sector has been particularly engaged. From soup kitchens organized by local churches, to larger faith-based organizations building and hosting home facilities, opportunities for this sector to better partner with government to address this pressing issue remain.
Join leaders from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) Center for Faith for a luncheon panel discussion about the role faith-based service providers are playing here in California, and how we might develop mutually enforcing relationships between them and the federal government.
