Visitor Information - Transportation

The following are methods of public transportation in and around the Malibu area.

Bus

Metro Bus Los Angeles 323.466.3876

The Metro Express 534 bus is available from the Pepperdine Malibu Campus traveling to Point Dume, to Santa Monica, and to the Fairfax Bus transit hub in Los Angeles, CA. The bus can be obtained at the crossroads of Seaver Drive and Malibu Canyon, and Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and John Tyler Drive (JTD), on the edges of the university. It is highly recommended to obtain the bus at PCH/JTD due to the easier walk to and from campus.

Please note: there are two routes which can be identified at the top of the front of the bus. Civic Stop/Malibu will only take you to the Seaver Drive and Malibu Canyon bus stop. Point Dume will take you to the PCH/JTD stop.

Fares begin at a base rate of $1.50 per boarding and vary depending on bus transfers and operations. Discounts and monthly cards are available. Please refer to the Metro site for additional information.

Rental Cars

Connect by Hertz

The Hertz Corporation launched a global car-sharing initiative, Connect by Hertz, to provide an economical, convenient, and socially conscious alternative to car ownership. Pepperdine University has signed on as one of the first university clients, and will strategically place Hertz cars around the Malibu campus for rental.
The self-service, pay-as-you-go system provides members with 24/7 access to a campus located fleet of environmentally friendly vehicles, transferring the fixed costs of car ownership to per-trip costs. Membership in Connect by Hertz includes insurance, fuel, roadside assistance, maintenance and cleaning, as well as a paperless service in which transactions are available via the Internet or phone. The following cars are available through the Pepperdine Connect by Hertz program: Mazda 3, Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry, and Ford Escape and can be rented for as low as $8.50 per hour.  1.877.654.4400.
