Michael Shires

On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, Dr. Michael Shires, associate dean for strategy and special projects, director of assessment, and associate professor of public policy at the Pepperdine School of Public Policy, will co-lead a free workshop titled, "Training for New Professionals: Impact Policy With Your Research.”

This workshop will take place in Denver Colorado from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Plaza Building: Concourse Level, Plaza Ballroom E (Sheraton Denver Downtown).

The Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM) is hosting a pre-conference training for new professionals. This interactive session will help guests learn how to impact the formation and implementation of policy with research. The session will explore ways to connect research with policymaker communities through communications, relationship building, and other important tools that will help your research get utilized for policymaking.

Shires is a leading public policy practitioner and scholar working with a wide range of public officials, community organizations, nonprofits, campaigns, media outlets, and candidates to solve the problems that challenge our communities. He will share his insights from almost 30 years as a policy actor and leader.
