Dr. Luisa Blanco Elected President for American Society of Hispanic Economists
Dr. Luisa Blanco, associate professor of public policy, has been elected to serve as president for
American Society of Hispanic Economists (ASHE). Blanco is an economist specializing in economic development and international economics,
with a focus on the Latin American region. She teaches the core course on Macroeconomic
Policy and other courses related to the economics specialization, such as Global Economics
and Latin American Economic Development.
The ASHE is a professional association of economists who are concerned with the under-representation of Hispanic Americans in the economics profession at a time when Hispanics represent over 16 percent of the United States ' population.
