iGO Annual Conference 2023
At the end of this month, our Executive Director Maureen Tobin led two trainings at the International Association of Government Officials (iGO) 2023 Annual Conference in Fort Worth, Texas.
The first training was on Understanding Municipal Budgets and provided an overview
of the various revenue systems and funding sources for local government. This session
was designed to provide participants with an understanding of the limitations and
restrictions of each funding source, how funds are typically allocated, and how municipal
budgets reflect and guide organizational operations.
The second training was on Internal Engagement: Effective Leadership Strategies to
Build Trust and Improve Communication. This session focused on the various approaches
to effective internal engagement with an emphasis on communication between managers
and staff. It explored effective leadership strategies and challenges centered around
engagement and communication, incorporating elements of emotional intelligence, trust-building,
and dialogue techniques.
The Davenport Institute has had a long-standing partnership with iGO and has consistently
provided trainings for the iGO Certificate in Public Leadership in-person at semi-annual
conferences and online throughout the year. We look forward to continuing our work
with iGO this fall.
