Feb 18: "Will Foreign Policy 'Trump' All in 2016?"

From various crises in the Middle East through economic downturns in Asia, most pundits view foreign policy as the set of issues, which will determine the 2016 presidential elections. For an analysis of the world's "hot spots" and their political implications, the Davenport Institute welcomes one of the world's foremost foreign policy thinkers and writers, Dr. Robert J. Lieber, on Thursday, February 18, at 12 p.m., in SPP 175. 

Lieber is professor of government and international affairs at Georgetown University, where he has previously served as chair of the Government Department and interim chair of psychology. He is the author of 16 books on international relations and U.S. foreign policy and has been an advisor to various presidential campaigns, the State Department, and drafters of U.S. National Intelligence Estimates. 

Lieber held fellowships from the Guggenheim, Rockefeller and Ford Foundations, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and the Smith Richardson Foundation. He also has taught at Harvard, Oxford, and the University of California, Davis.

Each semester at the Pepperdine School of Public Policy, the Davenport Institute hosts a series of lunchtime Davenport Discussions with practitioners, journalists, innovators, and researchers who speak to students on a wide range of issues from state and local finance to the use of technology in government to the outlook for cities in a state budget crisis and much more. These interactive sessions give students an opportunity not only to hear from experts in the field but to ask questions and make personal connections as well.
