Davenport Discussion: "How Campaigns Raise and Spend Money in the Pursuit of Victory" - Oct 22
The School of Public Policy and the Davenport Institute will host a Davenport Discussion featuring Luke Thompson, special advisor and chief empiricist at Right to Rise USA, on Thursday, October 22, at noon, in SPP 175. Thompson will present, "Lawyers, Ads, and Money: How Campaigns Raise and Spend Money in the Pursuit of Victory."
The American campaign finance system is unique—and much maligned. But how does it really work? How do the rules governing fundraising shape the way candidates, committees, and outside groups work to identify, mobilize, and persuade voters? How have technological changes affected this environment, especially the rise of digital campaigning?
Luke Thompson is a special adviser and chief empiricist at Right to Rise USA, the
Super PAC supporting Jeb Bush's candidacy for President of the United States. He specializes
in data-driven campaigning, digital politics, and campaign strategy. He holds a PhD
in political science from Yale University, where he was a lecturer before becoming
a political consultant.
