Dr. Michael Shires Appointed to Board of Trustees of the National Institute of Public Finance
Dr. Michael Shires, associate professor of public policy at the School of Public Policy, was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the National Institute of Public Finance, a program of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST). The National Institute for Public Finance is a forum for the education of all public finance officials. The biennial Institute brings together state treasurers and other public finance officials for an intensive five-day public finance curriculum, providing crucial insight into current public finance issues and developing the skills required by the professionals for the future, free from commercial influence. Experienced academicians, state treasurers, and other leaders in public finance form the distinguished faculty for the institute. Shires will travel to the NAST Annual Conference in October.
Shires' primary areas of teaching and research include state, regional, and local policy; technology and democracy; higher education policy; strategic, political, and organizational issues in public policy; and quantitative analysis.
