Beverly Hills - The famous shopping and dining grounds of the stars. Make sure to take a trip down famous Rodeo Drive while you are there. Beverly Hills is 24 miles away from campus. Take Pacific Coast Highway south to the 10 East, to the 405 north and exit on Santa Monica Blvd., right on Santa Monica, left on North Beverly.

The Broad - A contemporary art museum founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. The museum offers free general admission with rotating temporary exhibitions in a 120,000-square-foot building.

Calabasas Commons - A local outdoor shopping area with a movie theatre, Barnes and Noble Bookstore, and various stores and restaurants. The Calabasas Commons is 15 miles away from campus. Take Malibu Canyon to the 101 south, exit Parkway Calabasas to the left, The Commons will be on the right side.

Catalina Island - On a clear day the island is visible from Pepperdine. Activities on the island include water sports, island tours, and various seaside shops. The Catalina Express boat leaves daily from San Pedro, Long Beach, and Dana Point ports.

California State Parks - There are over 270 state parks and beaches in California.

Center for the Arts at Pepperdine University - Is host to internationally acclaimed performers as well as Pepperdine student productions.

City Walk - A boardwalk of restaurants, unique stores, clubs, and theatres located next door to Universal Studios. City Walk is 35 miles from campus in Universal City.  Take Malibu Canyon to the 101 south and exit Lankershim Blvd/ Universal City.

Disneyland - Disneyland is 54 miles away in Anaheim. The theme park is also adjacent to Disneyland's California Adventure park.

Dodger Stadium - Take Malibu Canyon to the 101 south, exit Alvarado, go north, then turn right on Sunset. Go approximately one mile and turn left on Elysian Park Ave.

J. Paul Getty Museum - With incredible views of Los Angeles, all the way to the ocean. The Getty Center is centrally located in Los Angeles near the San Diego Freeway (Interstate 405) and the Santa Monica Freeway (Interstate 10). Take the Getty Center Dr., exit from the 405 and follow the signs.

The Getty Villa Malibu - The Getty Villa is an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. Located on Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades (just south of Pepperdine), the Getty Villa is the place to see Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities arranged by themes including Gods and Goddesses, Dionysos and the Theater, and Stories of the Trojan War.

Grauman's Chinese Theatre - Iconic theatre located in Hollywood. Opened in 1927 and filled with exotic art from China, the theatre's jade-green bronze roof rises 90 feet into the air.

Griffith Park Observatory - Griffith Observatory is an icon of Los Angeles, a national leader in public astronomy, a beloved civic gathering place, and one of southern California's most popular attractions. The Observatory is located on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park, just above the Los Feliz neighborhood. It is 1,134 feet above sea level and is visible from many parts of the Los Angeles basin.

The Grove -  The Grove Los Angeles is a shopping and entertainment complex built adjacent to the historic Farmers Market. It centers on a landscaped park and a dancing fountain. It's become a popular spot for shopping and dining, and its lively crowds and street grid layout making it feel like an old-fashioned downtown.

Hollywood - Hollywood & Highland provides visitors entertainment, shopping, dining, along the walk of stars. Take the 101 south, and exit on Highland Ave/Hollywood Bowl; merge onto Cahuenga Blvd. Cahuenga becomes N. Highland Ave. Stay on Highland until Hollywood Blvd.

La Brea Tar Pits - The world famous repository of Ice Age fossils in the heart of the Los Angeles 'Miracle Mile' district. The La Brea Tar Pits and Page Museum are located at Wilshire Blvd. and Curson Ave.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) - The main buildings at LACMA (also known as LACMA East) are located in the Miracle Mile area between Fairfax Avenue and La Brea Ave., on Wilshire Blvd., just east of Ogden Dr.

Museum of Tolerance - "The Museum of Tolerance is a high tech, hands-on experiential museum that focuses on two central themes through unique interactive exhibits: the dynamics of racism and prejudice in America and the history of the Holocaust - the ultimate example of man's inhumanity to man."  Take Pacific Coast Highway north, Santa Monica Freeway (10) east - exit at Overland/National. Turn right and right (north) again on Overland Ave. and continue towards Pico Blvd. Turn right (east) on Pico Blvd.

The Music Center, Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County - Centrally located in downtown Los Angeles along Grand Ave., the Music Center is home to four internationally acclaimed Resident Companies: Los Angeles Philharmonic, Center Theatre Group, Los Angeles Opera, and Los Angeles Master Chorale and is comprised of four venues: Walt Disney Concert Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum, as well as outdoor theaters, plazas and gardens.

Venice Boardwalk - Venice, California, is a desired destination for travelers the world around. It is unlike any place on Earth. Well known for its artists, street performers, and funky atmosphere. It is a virtual carnival running year round with free admission.

The following are methods of public transportation in and around the Malibu area.

Bus:

Metro Bus Los Angeles- Metro Express 534 bus is available from the Pepperdine Malibu Campus traveling to Point Dume, to Santa Monica, and to the Fairfax Bus transit hub in Los Angeles, CA. The bus can be obtained at the crossroads of Seaver Drive and Malibu Canyon, and Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and John Tyler Drive (JTD), on the edges of the University.  Fares begin at a base rate of $1.75 (Pepperdine discount) per boarding and vary depending on bus transfers and operations.

Campus Shuttles: 

Blue Route - The Blue Route circles the campus clockwise and leaves the main lot every 15 minutes beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 6:30 p.m. GPS shuttle live-tracking available on the Pepperdine mobile app.

Orange Route - The Orange Route circles the campus counter-clockwise. Two shuttles serve this route, leaving the main lot approximately every 10 minutes beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. GPS shuttle live-tracking available on the Pepperdine mobile app.
